Adult Leadership Team

Scoutmaster, Dave Rockwell

Dave is a Wood Badge Trained Scouter, originally joining the Troop in the Fall of 2018.  He has also served as Cubmaster for Pack 913, as the Powhatan District Cub Leader Roundtable Commissioner and run 5 Camporee's/Webelos-rees.  He curently also servers as an Assistant Council Commission for Cub Leader Roundtable and is an Associate Dean of the Cub College for the National Capital Area Council's University of Scouting (held each February).  He has served on four Wood Badge Courses as a staff member.  Wood Badge is Scouting's top tier training for Scouters.  Dave received the Silver Beaver Award (for outstanding service to youth in and outside of Scouting) from the National Capital Area Council in May of 2022.

Dave was both a Cub Scout and Boy Scout.  He achieved the rank of Life Scout.  Dave's father is an Eagle Scout and his son is currently a Life Scout working towards Eagle.  He considers Scouting to be the best way to teach youth how to develop into a well rounded adult. It teaches youth how to serve God, others and themselves by becoming servant leaders who make moral and ethical choices.

Dave's vision for the Troop 1570 to be the home where best of the patrol method is lived by trained/engaged youth and adult leaders empowering them to the best of Scouting’s ideals, values and mission. He attributes his leadership and outdoor skills to lots of training and his lifetime of active engagement with youth ministries, including Scouting.
